How does the pomodoro timer work?
Work in focused blocks (25 minutes by default), then take a short break. After four focus blocks you get a long break. Every length is adjustable — set 50/10, 90/20, whatever matches your work — and breaks can start automatically.
Where does the noise come from? Is it a recording?
There are no recordings and nothing is streamed. FocusRoom synthesises white, pink and brown noise live in your browser with the WebAudio API, so it works offline, loops seamlessly forever, and uses almost no data.
What's the difference between white, pink and brown noise?
White noise has equal energy at every frequency — a bright hiss that masks distractions. Pink noise softens the high end, sounding balanced and rain-like. Brown noise is heavy on the low end — a deep rumble many people find calmer. Blend all three to taste.
How do share links work?
Your timer settings and mixer volumes are encoded into the page URL itself. Copy the link and whoever opens it gets your exact room — same block lengths, same mix. Nothing is saved on a server; the link is the preset.
Do you track my focus sessions?
No. Your session counts, focus minutes and streak are stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your device. They are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data resets them.
Is FocusRoom free?
Yes. FocusRoom is free to use, supported by ads, with no sign-up and no download. In full-screen focus mode the ads leave the room with everything else — just the timer and your mix.
